Pioneer History For 1970-1976

It is no secret, Pioneer Middle School is very old and referred to as outdated, compared to today's brand-new schools. Being an old school, Pioneer is one of the only schools that actually has some real history to it. The other Wenatchee school with significant history might be Orchard Middle School. The Wenatchee Valley High School has history, but it doesn't go back as far as Pioneer does. In the early 70s Pioneer was nearly brand-new, which is almost hard to picture now. Now the paint is cracking and peeling, the roofs leak in the winter, the winter heating system often breaks down, the text books are out of date, some of the windows have an unknown substance on them, there is no summer air-conditioning, and the classic yellow and brown school colors are weakening in popularity. These things used to bug me for some reason during my first year at Pioneer. Now I have learned to adapt to the school's condition. It's a rather cozy old school, and I can't imagine it being any other way. I love this place, and I hope it remains unchanged. Nothing will ever crumble these walls, for within is the last great place of education. Pioneer Middle School will always stand strong.
