The Plateau Indians lived between the Cascade Mountains in Washington state and the Bitterroot Mountains in Idaho and from southern British Columbia to northern Oregon. Tribes included in the Plateau culture were the Wanapum, Kittitas, Chelan, Walula, NezPerce, Coeur D'Alene, Umatilla, Cayuse, Tenino, Klickitat, yakima, Kalispel, Sanpoil, Flathead, Kutenai, Colvile, Okanogan, and the Wenatchi, from which our town and valley, Wenatchee, got its name.
