MONDAY:

September 21

7th Grade: HUMAN BODY SYSTEMS (HB)

  • Target 5.1-I can describe that systems and subsystems are made of smaller parts, and those smaller parts have specific characteristics.
  • Review subsystems and system organization of cells, tissue, organs, and body systems.
  • Begin a informational poster on subsystems within a system.

8th Grade: Properties of Matter (POM)

  • Target 5.3 -I can sort matter based on physical properties. (Color, texture, volume, density, magnetism, hardness & phase)

  • Reading selection on properties of matter
  • Complete a graphic organizer called Thinking Strategy: Determining Importance of information for What is Matter?

TUESDAY:

September 22

7th Grade: HUMAN BODY SYSTEMS  (HB)

  • Quiz on organization of body systems
  • Create a poster that shows how parts of subsystem work together to form a system.
  • Next expand that system to show how a system can be part of a larger system
  • Homework: Complete

8th Grade: Properties of Matter (POM)

  • Classify objests to see if matter shares certain properties with other objects.  Define a rule for sorting matter.

WEDNESDAY:

September 23

7th Grade: HUMAN BODY SYSTEMS (HB)

  • Next expand that system to show how a system can be part of a larger system
  • Share results of systems posters
  • Lab inquiry 18.1: Dissection lab on chicken wings
  • Learn about the structure and function of skin, muscle, bone, tendon, joints, ligaments, and blood vessels.

8th Grade: Properties of Matter (POM)

  • Target 5.4 -I can measure and label mass accurately.
  • Begin lab inquiry 2.1: Determining Density
  • Cornell notes on calculating density

THURSDAY:

September 24

7th Grade: HUMAN BODY SYSTEMS (HB)

  • Target 5.2-I can write and explanation of the relationship between tissues that make up individual organs and the functions the organ performs
  • Lab inquiry 18.1: Dissection lab on chicken wings
  • Learn about the structure and function of skin, muscle, bone, tendon, joints, ligaments, and blood vessels.

8th Grade: Properties of Matter (POM)

  • Target 5.6 -I can describe density and compare the relative densities of solids, liquids & gases.
  • Lab inquiry 2.2: Comparing density of different substances

FRIDAY:

September 25

7th Grade: HUMAN BODY SYSTEMS (HB)

  • Day 2 of chicken wing dissection

8th Grade: Properties of Matter (POM)

  • Target 5.5 -I can measure and label volume of an object/substance using displacement and measurement.
  • Lab inquiry 2.3: Measuring the density of irregular objects.
