Welcome to the Band 6 web page!

Required Book: Essential Elements 2000- Book 1 (Hal Leonard, Publishers).  During the second semester, students will start Essential Elements 2000- Book 2. It is the responsibility of parents and students to purchase both books.  Books are available at Wenatchee’s local music stores.

There are no prerequisites for participation in Band 6: Beginning Band.  Any interested student can join our program. Students will learn the fundamentals of musicianship, appropriate concert etiquette,  and participate in a wide variety of musical styles.

Parents and students should note a few expectations when considering joining the band program.  Students are expected to take their music instruments home and practice them in order to become better players.    Weekly practice sheets are collected.  Each student is required to participate in the scheduled concerts, demonstrating showmanship, discipline, performance skills and employing appropriate audience behavior.  Other NCWMEA events, such as Solo & Small Ensemble, are optional (according to ability and student interest).  Finally, please note that students interested in playing drums start the year by playing mallet instruments.   The transfer to drums occurs much later in the year.

The Pioneer Middle School Band program has in its inventory a number of instruments that students can borrow to use.  The priority for usage is for those students who are financially disadvantaged and for beginning band students in the 6th grade.  We encourage students to either purchase or rent their own instruments if parents know that they are really interested in pursuing band at Pioneer Middle School, especially flutes, clarinets, saxophones, trumpets and trombones.

This class is considered a FULL YEAR COMMITMENT.
